MSc thesis in Antenna Radome Design at 5G Base Stations - Aalto

 

The fifth-generation (5G) cellular wireless will be ready before/around year 2020. Deployment of 5G radios require various practical components, among which is an antenna radome to protect antennas and radio devices at base stations from environmental disturbances such as rain, dust and animals. As the 5G cellular systems exploit a wide range of radio devices, more stringent performance requirements are imposed on antenna radomes for 5G base stations.

 

Job description
This Master’s thesis work tackles the above described problem by
1) Modeling and setting requirements of antenna radomes at 5G base stations
2) Designing the antenna radomes electronically, electromagnetically and mechanically to meet the requirements as much as possible and finally
3) Possibly fabricating the designed antenna radome and measuring the performance.

The study will involve interaction with a Finnish industry committed for the development of 5G base stations.
